The Skinny: Para o seu primeiro álbum novo em cinco anos, a membros do Incubus passaram um tempo divididos em um estúdio em Nashville e em sua cidade natal, Los Angeles, onde eles se divertiram com novas requintes sonoros com o produtor Brendan O'Brien, que produziu discos como Pearl Jam, Stone Temple Pilots, e Soundgarden. A partir daí, entre as sessões dedicadas à jogando lotes de Halo, veio uma coleção de 11músicas novas que Brandon Boyd descreve como nada menos do que um "ousado, romântico, uma exuberante carta de amor, sônica para o mundo. É mais escuro, mais lento, mais rico, mais refinado e mais envolvidos do que qualquer coisa que o Incubus fez até agora."



Fast Fact: A inspiração do Incubus se deve em parte à escola: como Boyd disse à SPIN no início deste ano, alguns de seus desenvolvimento estilísticos vem do guitarrista Michael Einziger ter estudado música na Universidade de Harvard, e alguns do seu próprio crescimento, tendo aulas de arte na Otis College of Art and Design, em Los Angeles

The Skinny: For their first new album in five years, the members of Incubus split studio time between Nashville and their hometown of Los Angeles, where they entertained new notions of sonic refinement and got back on with producer Brendan O'Brien, who produced beloved records of theirs by the likes of Pearl Jam, Stone Temple Pilots, and Soundgarden. From that, between break sessions reportedly devoted to playing lots of Halo, came a collection of 11 new songs that Brandon Boyd has described as nothing less than an "unabashed, romantic, lush, sonic love letter to the world. It's darker, slower, more rich, more refined, and more involved than anything Incubus has birthed to date."

Fast Fact: Incubus' inspiration of late owes in part to school: as Boyd told SPIN earlier this year, some of their stylistic development comes from guitarist Michael Einziger studying music at Harvard, and some of his own growth comes from taking art classes at Otis College of Art and Design in L.A.
