Sunday unmasked one of the biggest roles that Incubus WHQ will be playing in this album cycle: getting premium ticket opportunities to the faithful fans of Incubus. The Incubus team will be supplying a few free tickets and backstage passes to EVERY SHOW on the upcoming tour. In order to be eligible for the contests that will determine where these tickets go, fans need to sign up with their local HQ groups at either the country or city level. Members of local groups will be the first ones to get information about promotions specific to their area, so if you aren’t in a group you’re missing out! The groups on HQ can be found here and if there doesn’t seem to be one for the appropriate area, feel free to start one up and invite your friends!
On Monday, dates for shows in London and Berlin were tentatively confirmed for June 13th and 17th, respectively. On June 12th, Incubus will be doing an in-person press release in London, before flying to Cologne, Germany on the 15th to film a segment with Germany’s TV Total. Incubus plans to spend the 16th travelling to Berlin, where they will stay for a night before moving on to the Hurricane and Southside Festivals on the 18th and 19th of June. Tickets for Hurricane and Southside are already on sale through the Festivals’ websites.
It was also announced on Monday that the Incubus team plans to release bundles of additional content for those fans who have pre-ordered the album before its release date. These incentives may include things such as exclusive video content, exclusive access to studio-quality B-sides, or codes for ticket presales for concerts on the upcoming tour. These incentives will NOT be made available for retail copies of the album, they are ONLY accessible from the preorder at http://www.enjoyincubus.com. Those fans who have already preordered the album will automatically be included in the preorder bundles.
Wednesday, NoiseCreep released an interview with Mike Einziger wherein Mike talked about 'If Not Now, When?' and his work on God Bless Ozzy Osbourne, which can be found here.
In addition, Wednesday was Jose Pasillas’ debut on the exclusive Incubus WHQ video chat series. He is the third member of Incubus to join fans for a question and answer session, following in the footsteps of Chris Kilmore and Ben Kenney. Jose’s chat was also the first chat session to be held on Volke rather than Ustream and Skype, which made the whole experience far more streamlined. Jose said he enjoyed the experience and the chance to answer some of the fan’s most urgent questions, and the recording of his video chat--along with his special guest and host, Ben Kenney--can be found here. Mike and Brandon’s video chat sessions will be sometime in the future, but as of yet they have not been scheduled.
Friday, the Incubus team announced an upcoming event that is all but unprecedented in the music business. Encouraged by the success of the video chats undertaken by Chris, Ben and Jose, Sony’s Director of Marketing for Latin America, Fernando Cabral, will be sitting down with fans in Latin America for a question and answer session. Senor Cabral’s videochat will be done on Volke on May 10th at 4pm PST. It is going to be a serious marketing discussion and the fans’ voices will be heard, so if you are a Latin American fan who has some real ideas or concerns about how Incubus is marketed in your country, this is your chance. If you have ideas but your schedule conflicts, questions for Senor Cabral can be left here in English, Portuguese or Spanish
The Incubus World Headquarters app for the iPhone was also rolled out on Friday. It joins the Android app as your way to stay connected with Incubus information on the road, and a Blackberry app is in the works, hopefully to debut in the next few weeks. More information on the iPhone and Droid apps, as well as a place to leave comments, concerns and bug reports, can be found here
